Last week saw us host the first ever Tech for Good Leeds meetup which was attended by over 30 people.

The idea to launch the event came about following conversations with our friends and colleagues at mHabitat. Collectively over the past few years our teams have worked on loads of great projects that are all trying to do something socially positive, many of which are based in and around our great city of Leeds. Yet unlike places like London, Manchester and Bristol we don’t have a regular meet-up for the brilliant people involved in using technology for good causes. So we decided to get together and put one on ourselves.

Our aim for Tech for Good Leeds is to create a quarterly get-together to celebrate tech projects (and people) that aim for positive social, health and environmental impact. All events will be open, friendly and informal space for people to learn, be inspired, connect and collaborate with like-minded folk who are interested in using tech to make the world a better place.

Here are just some of the highlights from the first event that took place in Co>Space North at Platform - a fantastic new space created by mHabitat to help people passionate about digitally enabled health and care to connect, collaborate and co-create.

Special thanks to our speakers Becks Armstrong from Clarity, who’s brilliantly honest and straight-talking talk was very well received and to Maddie Julian from Digibete who, despite being stuck in Sweden following a flight cancellation, recorded a video talk from her hotel room and wetransferred it over - bravo indeed! And thanks of course for everyone who came to the first event... hopefully we’ll see you again and this is the first of many :)
